The invention relates to a road joint connecting two portions of road pavement 1,4,6; 2,5,7 separated by a gap 3, comprising an elastic seal G bordered by two bulges 20 and two edge sections P each comprising an elongate base 8 anchored in the road and a cover 9 bolted on the base while clamping one of the bulges between them. Each cover consists of a horizontal comb-piece comprising upper teeth 91 fitting into those of the other comb-piece, and lower tabs 92 placed horizontally between the teeth but offset vertically downwards relative to these teeth in such a way that their lower faces cover the seal and that their upper faces are located at a lower level than the lower faces of the teeth. <IMAGE>
