PURPOSE:In the production of sodium hypochlorite by electrolysis of NaCl solution, the NaClO solution is transferred with the H2 gas generated in the electrolysis to enable easy production of a NaClO solution of a prescribed concentration. CONSTITUTION:The concentration of the NaCl solution in the storage tank 1 is previously set to a prescribed value and the level of the solution is kept constant with the control means 2 in the system for NaClO production. When voltage is applied between electrodes 9a and 9b, the NaCl in the electrolysis tank 7 reacts in accordance with equations I-IV and NaClO is formed depending on electrical quantity applied and simultaneously H2 gas is generated in an amount according to the electrical quantity around the cathode 9b. Since the H2 gas is small in its bubble sizes at the beginning stage, the NaClO solution is not set out of the tank 7 and the bubbles are accumulated on the top part of the tank 7 and the bubble sizes become gradually larger. When the bubbles becomes large enough to block the outlet 15, the bubble is pushed up outside, at is pushes up the NaClO solution in the outlet pipe 14 and the same volume of NaCl solution as exhausted solution is sent from the tank 1 into the tank 7.
