In order to facilitate the release of a ski boot from a ski, e.g. in the event of a fall, the boot is provided with an outsole 1 in which the ball region 9 of the outsole has lower friction properties than the remainder of the outsole 1. The tread surface of the ball region of the outsole may be formed from an insert 5 of polytetrafluoroethylene or corrosion resistant metal which is incorporated in the outsole during the moulding thereof. The insert 5 may be formed with projections whose lower surfaces lie in the same plane as the remainder of the outsole. |
