In an over-transport device on a sewing machine, an up-and-down movement directed perpendicularly to a needle plate (85) of the sewing machine (1) is imparted to a feed press foot (31) and to a holding press foot (38), cooperating alternately therewith, by means of a gear and a triangular lever (47) coupled to the latter via an oscillating drive. So that the stroke heights of the press feet (31, 38) can be varied, without their alternation times being influenced thereby, the oscillating drive has a slide, by means of which the gear is coupled via an oscillating shaft (76) to an oscillating lever (73) which is coupled to the slide via a sliding-block guide (70, 71). Furthermore, the distance of the sliding block (71) from the oscillating shaft (76) can be varied. <IMAGE>
