PURPOSE:To manufacture a highly tough ferritic stainless steel exactly at a low cost, by heating, rolling and cooling acceleratedly under specified conditions, a steel having a specified compsn. in which a specified relation is exhibited in contents of C, N, Cr. CONSTITUTION:The steel composed of, by weight <=0.03% C, <=0.3% Si, <=0.5% Mn, <=0.02% P, 16-35% Cr, 0.02-0.30% sol Al, <=0.03% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities while satisfying C(%)+N(%)<=-0.0015(% Cr)+0.055 in case <=30% Cr and C(%)+N(%)<=0.010 in case >30% Cr, is heated and rolled while finishing it at >=850 deg.C to prevent the precipitation of coarse Cr carbonitride induced by strain. Next, immediately said plate is acceleratedly cooled at >=10 deg.C/sec rate to improve toughness favorably. |
