A dynamoelectric machine of the type having a cylindrical rotor including electrical conductors having radial portions and radially extending magnetic portions and including permanent and/or electromagnets to form axial end air gaps between the rotor and the stator, to provide interaction between the magnetic fields in the axial end air gaps and the electrical conductor radial portions and the radially extending magnetic portions to increase the magnetic inductance of the lateral or end stator fields and the armature or rotor.
