METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF METAL AND STEEL

PURPOSE:To improve the quality and yield of a billet by disposing a hermetically closable vessel contg. a molten metal and pouring the pressurized molten metal through a nozzle into casting molds which are inclined upward at a specific angle. CONSTITUTION:The vessel 10 has an openable and closable cap 11 in the upper part and is disposed with a tap hole 12 and nozzle 20 in the bottom. Plural pieces of the casting molds 40 which are inclined upward at 5-90 deg. are provided and are connected via runners 36 to the nozzle 20. Water cooling of the molds 40 is started and gaseous Ar is supplied. After a required amt. of the molten steel is received in the vessel 10, the cap is hermetically closed and the gaseous Ar is blown through a pipe 13 to the vessel to pressurize the molten metal. The rotating nozzle 20 is then rotated at the prescribed angle and the molten metal is poured therethrough. The remaining molten metal is discharged into a residual molten metal case. The billet having a good solid degree and smooth surface is obtd. by the pressurization of the molten metal, by which the quality and yield of the billet is improved.
