The invention relates to a fluid atomiser having an ultrasonic exciter which acts on the fluid to be atomised. It is characterised in relation to the prior art in that the fluid to be atomised is accommodated in a container which consists of a diaphragm which transmits ultrasonic waves, and in that between the said diaphragm and the ultrasonic exciter, a vessel which is connected thereto and filled with a coupling fluid is arranged, the diaphragm dipping entirely or partially into the fluid of the vessel. A particular advantage is then obtained if, as also recommended by the invention, the diaphragm is constructed as a funnel-shaped preform which dips deeply into the coupling fluid because then the fluid to be atomised is sprayed right down to the smallest possible residue which collects in the tip of the funnel. Finally, the invention permits the feed air to be directed onto the centre of the tip of the funnel, as a result of which the smallest droplets which jump up can be completely surrounded by it and carried along.
