PURPOSE:To obtain a solution for reclaiming polyurethane foam scraps, by dissolving with heating polyurethane foam scraps in a phosphate plasticizer containing a specified tin compound or metallic tin as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A decomposing solution is formed by adding at least one, catalyst selected from among tin compounds such as tin chloride, tin hydroxide and tin oxide and metallic tin to a phosphate plasticizer. To this solution are added polyurethane foam cuttings formed in the processing step, rejects of polyurethane foam during foaming, etc. and dissolved in it by heating and agitation. Examples of the phosphate plasticizers which can be used include phenyl diisopropylphenyl phosphate and tricresyl phosphate. The phosphate plasticizer is presumed not only to act simply as a solvent for polyurethane foam but also to take part in a reaction for cleaving a urethane linkage into an isocyanate moiety and a polyol moiety.
|
