Plant comprises a transformed, antibiotic-sensitive plant cell contg. a DNA fragment which includes an opine synthase gene and foreign DNA segments. The fragment is flanked by a T-DNA repetitive sequence. - Also new are the plant cells (and protoplasts) themselves and plasmids contg. the DNA fragment plus a gene for antibiotic resistance outside this fragment.
