PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically discriminate the number of colors of an ink medium, by a method wherein a color number display device is provided to an ink medium or the end part of the core tube thereof and the display of the number of colors is detected by a detection means to discriminate the number of colors by a controller and the sequence of an apparatus main body is altered. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of grooves are provided to the end part of the feed core tube 10 or wind-up core tube 15 of an ink sheet 11 and each groove 18b of the core tube 19b or 15b or a four-color ink sheet 11b is formed so as to be deeper than each groove 18a of the core tube 10a or 15a of a three-color ink sheet 11a. The pawls 20 of a core tube receiver 19 are engaged with the grooves 18a... or 18b.... The core tube receiver 19 has a drive transmission gear 21 and a disc 23 and supported by a fixed plate 24. When the ink sheet 11a is used, because the grooves 18a are shallow, a microswitch 26, of which the operation piece 26 is contacted with the disc 23, is turned ON and, when the ink sheet 11b is used, because the grooves 18b are deep, the microswitch 27 is turned OFF and the number of colors of the ink sheet is discriminated to alter the sequence of a printer main body. |
