The transporter is fitted with a tail ramp (7) which can be lowered onto the ground at the rear end. The ramp is fitted with friction pads (9) to prevent the aircraft wheels from slipping. The ramp is lowered by means of a lever (23) operated by a hydraulic ram (21). The aircraft wheels travel off the ramp onto the platform (4) which is circular and able to rotate about a central vertical axis. The centre of the platform is recessed and the aircraft wheels are clamped on the platform. The platform is fitted with a ball race to ensure its rotation. |
