PURPOSE:To make the insertion work of pole plate lugs smooth by making the width of a slit corresponding to a bent section larger than those of other sections when bending a metal plate with slits to form a strap for an alkaline storage battery. CONSTITUTION:The required number of comb teeth-like notches 4 to be used as slits are provided on both sides of a band-like steel plate 3 by punching or the like, and the width B of a notch 4 at the bent section I is made larger than the widths A, C of other portions. Next, both sides of the central section 1a are bent downward in a channel shape, and further the vertical portion is bent outward in an L-shape to form a strap 1, which is used as a strap 12 for an alkaline storage battery, and lug sections 15 of pole plates 14 are inserted into individual slits and welded. Accordingly, correction due to irregular sizes of notched sections 4 during bend-machining is not required, the pole plate lugs can be smoothly inserted, and workability can be improved. |
