PURPOSE:To suppress the increase in the transmission loss of an optical fiber, by coating an optical fiber with a promary coating material, presuring and winding the coated fiber in the form of a coil, and post-curing and coating the product with a secondary coating material. CONSTITUTION:A spun optical fiber 3 is transferred through an outer-diameter gauge 4 to a coating die 5, and coated uniformly with a primary coating material. The coated fiber is passed through a heating furnace 6 to promote the gelation. The primary coating layer is uniformized with a coating die 5a, precured with a heating furnace 6a, taken up via a outer-diameter gauge 4a by a take-up device 8, and wound with a winding reel 7 in the form of a coil. The wound fiber is jubjected to the post-curing treatment by a heat-treatment apparatus 10 in a hot chamber 9 to effect the stabilization of the gel, and passed through the die 13 of a coatingd mechine to extrude the secondary coating material in molten state. The obtained fiber having the secondary coating layer on the primary coating layer is immersed and cooled in a cooling through 12, and wound by a winder 14. |
