An air-purification device, in particular a vapour extractor hood, for use in domestic kitchens, having a fan which takes in and conveys the cooking vapours and odours occurring, the drive motor of which fan can be switched on and off via a staged-power switching device, having a device for time-controlled continued running of the fan after completion of the actual extraction operation, and having a grease filter and, if appropriate, an odour filter. To increase the service value, the continued running of the fan can be switched on manually and the exchange of the used grease filter and, if appropriate, the odour filter is displayed visually or acoustically depending on the duration of operation of the hood. The triggered display can only be switched off by manual intervention.
