A heat-resistant 12-Cr steel with 0.08-0.15 % by weight of carbon, 0.21-0.6 % by weight of silicon, 0.3-0.8 % by weight of manganese, more than 1.0-1.5 % by weight of nickel, 9.5-11.0 % by weight of chromium, 0.7-1.5 % by weight of molybdenum, 0.15-0.27 % by weight of vanadium, more than 0.3-0.45 % by weight of niobium and/or tantalum in total, 0.03-0.08 % by weight of nitrogen and 0.8-1.3 % by weight of tungsten, the remainder being iron, is described. The creep strength of the heat-resistant 12-Cr steel described is far greater than that of known heat-resistant 12-Cr steels. Turbine components produced from the heat-resistant 12-Cr steel described have a strength which is adequately high for use at temperatures of 600-650 DEG C.
