Described is a preventive and curative agent for ulcers of the gastro-intestinal tract comprising as the main constituent an active component having anti-ulcer activity obtained by extracting cassia buds with hot water, an alcohol or a water-alcohol mixture. This agent may be used for preparing pharmaceutical compositions suitable for oral or parenteral administration.
