A thermosettable resin compsn. contg a vinyl ester resin and a vinyl monomer reactive diluent is given improved storage stability by using as a gelatin inhibitor a mixt. of oxalic acid (I) and phenothiazine(II). Pref. (I) is used in an amt. of 50-1000 ppm and (II) as 10-500 ppm. 4-Chloro-2-nitrophenol may also be added as a gelatin inhibitor, pref. in an amt. of 10-500 ppm. Vinyl ester resin can be prepd. by reacting an unsatd. monocarboxylic acid [e.g.(meth) acrylic acid with a polyepoxide (e.g. a glycidyl ether of a polyhydric alchol or phenol). The combination of (I) and (II) is synergistic and can extend the shelf life of the resin by 1.5 times or more.
