PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility of fine magnetic powder as well and to obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent wear resistance and durability by providing a magnetic layer contg. a specific beef tallow diamine and specific diamide compd. in combination together with the magnetic powder and binder as essential components on a non-magnetic substrate. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer contg. the beef tallow diamine expressed by formula I (R<1> is a stearyl group or a mixture composed of the stearyl group and oleyl group) and the diamide compd. expressed by formula II (R<2>, R<3> are an alkyl of 12-18C and may the same or different) at a weight ratio of (9:1)-(5:5) and at 0.5-5pts.wt. total of both by 100pts.wt. the magnetic powder together with the binder resin and necessary polishing agent, etc. is formed on the substrate. The dispersibility of the fine magnetic powder is thus improved and the diamide compd. has a lubricating effect together with dispersibility. The magnetic recording medium having the magnetic layer which is excellent in the wear resistance and durability and is stable even in various environments is obtd. |
