PURPOSE:To reduce the cost and a light emitting side current capacity by transmitting a gate command signal through an optical fiber, and controlling a current supplying period by the timing of its switching at a reception side. CONSTITUTION:A power converter using a GTO element 11 has a gate signal generator 1 of a control circuit side of low voltage and a gate circuit 2 of a main circuit side of high voltage, ON and OFF gate frequency dividers 4, 5 and ON and OFF gate circuits 9, 10. In the generator 1, the ON and OFF command signals of the dividers 4, 5 based on a clock pulse CP drives a transistor 6 through a transmission side gate signal generator 12, and supplies a light signal from a light emitting element 7 through an optical fiber 3 to the photoreceptor 8 of the gate circuit 2. This signal drives a reception side gate controller 13 and drives the element 11 through the gate circuits 9, 10. |
