PURPOSE:To prevent an electrode from deflecting, to aim at enhancing the operation ability of a rod-like electrode holding device in an electric discharge machining device for forming a thin hole, by feeding the electrode by means of an electrode feed piston which is operated under fluid pressure while the electrode is guided by a guide bush. CONSTITUTION:A rod-like electrode holding device is provided therein with an electrode holder 11, a cylinder holder 13, a rod-like electrode 1, a guide bush 9, a piston 14a, etc. When an electrode clamp device 12 is rotated to machine a workpiece 3, machining liquid 8 flowing into the upper section of the electrode holder 11, is fed to a fabricating part of the workpiece 3 after passing through machining liquid passages 19A, 19B. The jetting pressure of the machining liquid 8 presses a stopper 14b against the workpiece 3, and the electrode holder 11, etc. are rotated. With the progress of the machining of the workpiece, the holder 11 gradually lowers, and fluid 18 is pushed up by means of a piston 12 so that the fluid flows into the upper section of the electrode feed piston 12 to lower the latter, thereby the electrode 1 is fed downward. |
