Process for obtaining pure aliphatic aldehydes

Pure aliphatic aldehydes can be obtained from the corresponding crude aldehydes which contain organic chlorine compounds, by extracting the aldehyde from the crude aldehyde by means of a polar solvent and treating the extract with an unpolar countersolvent. The process is particularly effective when the extraction is preceded by a distillation.
