PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient electrifier where switching of the output voltage or current of a high voltage power source is unnecessary and the control is easy and discharging is stable, by varying the width of te aperture in the photosensitive body moving direction of a shield supporting a corona wire and chaning this width in accordance with a process speed. CONSTITUTION:A corona wire 71 is stretched in a shield 16a, which has the aperture facing a photosensitive drum 7, to constitute a charging charger 16, and the charger 16 is provided throughout the width of the drum in parallel with the shaft of the drum 7. A shielding member 70 is attached freely shakably with the shoulder part of the shield 16a as the fulcrum. When a solenoid 72 is excited, a lever 75 is turned counterclockwise against a tension spring 73, and the upper part of the shielding member 70 is turned clockwise against a tension spring 74 with a fulcrum 70b as the center to open the aperture of the shield 16a. The width of the aperture of the shield 16a is changed in accordance with the process speed of the copying machine to obtain stable and efficient discharging. |
