This control system, which applies a pulse-width-modulated direct voltage to the motor terminals for controlling the motor speed in dependence on the speed step set, contains a clock generator (1) and at least one channel switch (2a) which is permanently allocated to a track block (3a) of a model railway system (3). A driving current supply unit (4a) jointly allocated to the clock generator (1) and the possibly several channel switches (2a, 2b...2n) which have to be connected in parallel with respect to power supply and clock supply, outputs an unmodulated direct voltage (U) which is at least equal to the motor operating voltage and can be connected in parallel with other similar driving current supply devices (4b...4n) if more power is required. For each channel switch (2a...2n), an individual adjusting means (Ea, Eb...En) is provided which determines a predeterminable information on either the desired motor speed, a desired standstill or a desired change-over in direction of travel. In the channel switch (2a...2n), a return circuit with a return diode is provided via which the return current of the motor to be driven and acting as storage reactor flows, the return current being the basis for the controlled variable. The pulse width of driving current pulses is determined by interaction of the relevant information from the adjusting means (E) and the clock generator (1). <IMAGE>
