PURPOSE:To manufacture an electric contacting point material having low contact resistance and superior in consuming resistance by electroless plating Ni to rod-shaped Ag powder, press forming them in magnetic field, sintering, then working plastically said body. CONSTITUTION:The rod-shaped Ag powders having 100-200mum length, 20-30mum diameter are manufactured by cutting an Ag ingot in high frequency vibration. These are fed into electroless Ni plating liquid to form the Ni plated layer on the surface. These are washed, dried, then fed in mold, magnetic field is applied thereto while applying vibration, the vibration is stopped after giving the vibration for a fixed time, and primary press forming is performed by high pressure while applying magnetic field. Said body is heated to 800 deg.C and fed in metallic mold preheated to 450 deg.C, further secondarily press formed by high pressure. This is sintered in atmosphere such as Ar, then hot extruded to round rod, further said rod is drawn to manufacture electrical contact point material. Said material having low contact resistance and less consumed quantity is obtained.
