A method for displaying the lifetime of a backlight in an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to confirm the cause of performance deterioration and predict a replacement time by automatically executing dimming control in case the brightness of a backlight drops to a certain level or less, calculating the lifetime of the backlight it is impossible to adjust the brightness through dimming control, and displaying the remaining time. A control part measures the brightness of a backlight(S10). The control part compares the measured brightness value with a reference value(S20). In case the measured brightness value is larger than the reference value, the control part maintains the present brightness. If the measured brightness value is smaller than the reference value, however, the control part adjusts the brightness of the backlight through dimming control(S40). At this moment, in case it is impossible to adjust the brightness even though dimming control is performed at the maximum level(S30), the control part calculates the lifetime of the backlight(S50). Then the control part displays the remaining time(S60). |
