Process for flocculating the substances suspended in sewage. According to the invention the sewage is passed through a granular medium as a fluidised bed, without preliminary blocking of the granular medium as a stationary bed, and flocculated aggregates are recovered downstream of the said bed and are subjected to a sedimentation or to any other liquid-solid separation to obtain an effluent partially freed from its contamination.
