Device 10 for administering elongated medicinal pellets in subcutaneous application. The device comprises a guide element 11 inside which an element slides which carries at one end means for locking the needle. A disposable cartridge 12 contains a hollow needle 40 containing a pellet 13 to be implanted and an obturator 44 which has a length greater than that of the needle. One end of the cartridge is engaged in the guide element. The free end of the needle is introduced under the skin of the patient and the sliding element is displaced in the opposite direction in order to withdraw the needle into the hollow cylinder. During this movement, the obturator is held relatively fixed so that, when the needle is withdrawn, the pellet stays implanted. The invention also describes a composite pellet having a core formed by a first ingredient and a surrounding sleeve formed by a second ingredient, as well as a method for making the pellets. <IMAGE>
