Manually actuable pencil sharpener with a housing which collects the waste cuttings and is closed off to the egress of waste cuttings, wherein the introduction opening for the pencil to be sharpened is completely closable by a slide against the egress of waste cuttings in the operational state of the non-sharpening and wherein the housing consists of a carrier part (2, 2') for the sharpener part (3) and the slide (1, 1'), an upper part (5) plugged onto the carrier part and held fast thereat as well as a chip-collecting part (6), into which the carrier part is pluggable with sliding fit, characterized thereby, that the slide (1, 1') displays a counterbearing surface (15, 15', 15"), which is for the point of the pencil to be introduced and is so shaped or extends at such an angle to the sliding direction (B, C, B', C') of the slide that the pressure (A) of the pencil point effects a movement of the slide into the opening position, wherein a restoring resilience (16, 16') is provided for the automatic movement of the slide into the position closing off the interior of the housing against the egress of waste cuttings and that the counterbearing surface leads the pencil point towards the introduction opening. |
