The display device contains an operating console (4) for inputting the desired weight value, and a data processing device (3) for determining the difference between the desired and actual values of the filled weight and for forming a control signal dependent on the differential weight value. A frequency generator (5) is controlled by means of this control signal in such a way that it produces at a loudspeaker (7) a tone signal having at least one variable core quantity, e.g. frequency, which varies as a function of the differential weight and which reaches an extreme value when said differential weight passes through zero. This acoustic display device can be connected to scales (1, 2) with electrical measured-value representation and serves the purpose of facilitating the weighing out of material being filled to acoustic guidance of the operator. <IMAGE>
