Conveyor belts for continuous furnaces with high temperatures, consisting of elongate members, the ends of which are arranged in rows rotatably on shafts running perpendicularly to the direction of conveying, become unusable after a relatively short period of use by the shafts bending greatly in the opposite direction to the direction of conveying. In order to avoid this, profiled pins are, in the conveyor belt according to the invention, arranged on the shafts, the said pins being suitable for manually rotating the shafts by 180 DEG with a fitting key, e.g. once daily. In the conveying installation with this conveyor belt according to the invention, a key is arranged next to the latter, into the opening of which the profiled pins can be introduced one after another and can be rotated by 180 DEG with the aid of an automatic control for turning. In this case, it is advantageous to design the drive of the conveyor belt in such a manner that the shaft to be rotated is tension-relieved. To this end, on both sides of the conveyor belt, two chain wheels, which are driven together and which are fixed in a fitting and adjustable rotary position in relation to one another, act on the belt. To trigger the automatic control, the light beam of a light barrier, which has approximately the same adjustable spacing from the key for turning the shafts as two neighbouring shafts of the conveyor belt, is interrupted by the profiled pins.
