Process for flue gas desulphurisation

A flue gas desulphurisation process is created by the invention in which an SO2-containing flue gas is contacted with a suspension which circulates in an absorption tower and which contains calcium compounds. An oxygen-containing gas is blown into the suspension and the amount of oxygen gas absorbed in the suspension is determined. The feed into the suspension of a manganese compound which is intended to come into contact with the flue gas is controlled in accordance with the absorption value of the oxygen gas determined, in order thereby to set the desulphurisation rate.
