PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of defective working in an electrode consumption corrector by providing a working gap detecting power source activated by working start direction, applying the voltage of said power source between an electrode and a workpiece to detect the working gap and then activate an electrospark machining power supply. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus for correcting automatically electrode consumption, when working start direction is generated from a commanding circuit 1 for commanding working start and stop, a working gap detecting power source 5 is activated and the voltage of said power source is applied between an electrode 3 and a workpiece 4. Also, an electrode mover is operated to move the electrode 3 downward. When the electrode 3 is moved downward and the gap between the electrode and workpiece reaches the working gap for starting electrosparking, this is detected by a working gap detecting circuit 6, and electrospark machining voltage is applied between the electrode 3 and workpiece 4 by activating an electrospark machining power supply, while a counter circuit 7 is operated. Thus, the counter circuit 7, a working feed control circuit 8, the electrode mover, etc. are operated to perform the electrospark machining set by the counter circuit 7. |
