The present invention relates to a device for detecting power fluctuations in laser radiation, which comprises a sheet 10 of a material which is a good thermal conductor and has small thickness and is disposed on a support base 50 which is adapted to allow application of laser radiation to be monitored onto one face of the sheet at substantially normal incidence to the latter, a darkened coating disposed on the face of the sheet 10 exposed to the radiation, a heat-sensitive electrical component 100 of the thermocouple type disposed at the centre of the other face of the sheet, which is not exposed to the laser radiation, in order to detect instantaneous variations in the temperature of the sheet due to power fluctuations in the radiation. <IMAGE>
