PURPOSE:To lubricate the billet in a casting mold and to obtain a continuous casting billet having an excellent surface characteristic by opening fine holes which open dispersedly on the mold surface to the surface plates of a casting mold and supplying directly a lubricating agent through the fine holes to the space between the face plates and the billet shells. CONSTITUTION:The lubricating oil 2 is fed via a supply piping 6 and a supply fitting 5 to supply passages 8, 9 in the surface plates 3 of the casting mold in the case of using the oil 2 as the lubricating agent. The many fine holes 10 opening dispersedly toward the surface of the billet shells 1b are opened to the passage 9 in the horizontal direction and the oil 2 is supplied through the holes 10 to the slight space between the plates 3 and the shells 1b thereby lubricating the surface of the billet 1. At least one stage of the passages 9 and the holes 10 are preferably provided to the lubricating device in about 0-10mm. range below the meniscus and are provided in the same way in the area from the top surface of the meniscus. Rapeseed oil, carbon powder, etc. are more preferably used for the lubricating agent and the supply thereof is direct or under gaseous pressure. |
