PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer ink sheet capable of giving high-saturation pictures without causing uneven transfer printing even on usual papers by forming a layer with a heat-meltable substance containing a colorant of a higher melting point than the heat-meltable substance on the supporter. CONSTITUTION:A resin 202 colored with a dye or pigment is dispersed in a binder 203 (e.g., wax, etc.), and the dispersion is coated on a supporter 201 (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate film, condenser paper, etc.) to obtain a thermal transfer ink sheet. Such ink sheets 302, using the colored resin 202 having a higher melting point than the binder 203, are laminated on a paper 303 to be transferred and heated by the thermal head 301, whereupon the binder of the heated portion 304 permeates into the paper 303 to be transferred and the colored resin having high melting point is left on the paper 303. High-density, high-saturation pictures can thus be obtained without the flow of ink. |
