The invention relates to a valve tappet for the valve control of an internal-combustion engine, having a disc-shaped butting part of wear-resistant material, which corresponds with a camshaft, and a shank part of a material of a lower relative density, and having a pressure zone acting indirectly or directly on the shank of a gas-reversing valve, weight being optimised and production costs being reduced by producing the shaft part from fibre-reinforced plastic, in particular from polyether sulphone or polyamide imide having a fibre content of 30%.
