PURPOSE:To remove remaining water uniformly in a short time and to improve the accuracy of a stopping temperature of cooling, by providing a mechanism for immediately removing the water, remaining on a thick steel plate, by means of a cooling-water scraping device when the controlled cooling of thick steel plate by water is stopped. CONSTITUTION:Immediately after finishing the controlled cooling of a thick steel plate 12 by means of cooling water, a driving device 18 is actuated to rock a link mechanism 34 in the advancing and retreating directions of a working rod 18B by means of the working rod 18B. A water-scraping roller 36 provided to the front end of link mechanism 34, moves on the upper surface 13 of plate 12 from the end edge 13A of one side to the other end-edge 13B along the upper surface 13 while rollingly contacting the upper surface 13. Further, the mechanism 34 is formed into a four-joints rotating mechanism, to absorb the change of the distance from a pin 32 to the upper surface 13. In this way, the roll 36 removes the cooling water, remaining on the surface 13, by scraping the water to the direction of the end edge 13B of one side. |
