PURPOSE:To raise the cutting yield, by pushing a pair of multi-stepped cutting blades in a continuously cast ingot, toward the center of width of the ingot, so as to form V-shaped sections and cut off the ingot. CONSTITUTION:A right and left pair of double stepped cutting blades 6, 6 are driven as they are advancing toward the center of width of an ingot 7. Then, the angled parts of the first steps of the cutting blades 6, 6 begin pushing in the ingot 7, the tensile stress reaches the yield point by the angled parts of the second steps of the cutting blades 6, 6, as the cutting blades 6, 6 are cutting in the ingot 7, and the ingot 7 is plastically transformed. As the cutting blades cut in the ingot more deeply, the tensile displacement which acts on the uncut part of the ingot 7, increases, and the ingot 7 is completely cut off without mutual contact between the blade lines 6c, 6c and without loss of cut iron. |
