PURPOSE:To prevent engine stalling by calculating the number of revolution with which the initial explosion after the recovery of fuel supply occurs before the reduction of the engine speed to the min. engine speed where engine stop is not generated, and setting said engine speed as the number of recovery revolution, in case of fuel cut in deceleration. CONSTITUTION:When it is detected by an idle switch 8 that a throttle valve 3 is in perfectly closed state and the engine speed N calculated 11 from the output of a crank-angle sensor 9 is larger than the engine speed Nc in fuel-cut judgement, the deceleration speed is calculated 13, and the second engine speed N2 is calculated 15 from the deceleration speed and a prescribed revolution angle. Then, N2 is set equal to Nr (number of recovery revolutions), and Nr is compared with the engine speed N by a comparing means 16, and if N>Nr, fuel cut is continued. In this case, the above-described prescribed revolution angle is set as the crank-angle revolution angle formed through the path ranging from the fuel injection after recovery to the initial explosion which is obtained from the previous experiment.
