PURPOSE:To obtain an assured damper mechanism of a simple structure with low cost by adding the piston and cylinder parts to an upper head arm and a lower head carriage respectively and applying oil to the cylinder part. CONSTITUTION:A piston-shaped shaft 3 is provided to an arm 4' which holds an upper head 4; while a cylinder-shaped hole 12 is formed to a carriage 5' which holds a lower head 5. The oil is supplied to the hole 12. Thus it is possible to eliminate the chattering and absorb the impact when a floppy disk 1 is held between both heads 4 and 5. In such a way the sensitive separation between the disk 1 and both heads due to the dust, etc. is also prevented. Thus it is possible to obtain an assured damper mechanism of a simple structure in a large quantity with low cost.
