The door closer has a closer shaft which can be coupled to a door wing and which can rotate from a closing position in both directions of rotation. Within the housing, the closer shaft engages positively by means of a lifting cam disc between rollers of a longitudinally movable slide, on which a spring arrangement forming a working accumulator and the piston of a hydraulic damping device engage. The inner space of the door-closer housing is sub divided into two pressure-medium spaces which are separated by a piston and which are connected by means of separate channels to a respective closable throttle valve for the flow-off of the pressure medium out of the pressure space becoming smaller during the closing of the door and are connected to one another by means of a non-return valve arranged in the piston and likewise opening during the opening movement of the door wing. In this case, the separate channels can alternately be shut off and opened by means of a control slide displaceable by the piston, and inserted in each channel is a safety valve which, when required, connects the pressure-medium spaces. So that the control slide can be placed in its pushed-out position in such a way that the change-over from one return-flow channel to the other can be varied within a specific range of opening angles of the door wing, the stroke end position of the control slide relative to the piston is adjustable.
