PURPOSE:To contrive to prevent the device from water hammering phenomenon due to a water/air separation by a method wherein an air injecting valve of a condenser water chamber is opened so that the pressure in a water chamber of a condenser rear part is made larger than a saturated stem pressure of a cooling water. CONSTITUTION:Signals from an output detecting means 21 of a generator 13, a tailrace pit level detecting means 22 and an open sea level detecting means 23 are inputted to a water chamber protecting device 15 of a condenser. In a calculating means 16, the flow velocity in a tailrace pit 6 before the stopping of a circulating water pump 1 is obtained, a down-surge quantity is calculated by a level difference, then the difference between the pit level after the down-surge and the top level of the condenser water chamber 4 is obtained, finally, the pressure in a rear part water chamber 4 is calculated. Also the valve opening time of an air injecting valve 35 is obtained from a required cooling water quantity. When the pressure in the rear water chamber 4 of the condenser is lower than the saturated steam pressure, the air injecting valve 35 is opened via a operating means 34, thus, the water/air separation phenomenon of the cooling water in the rear part water chamber 4 of the condenser is prevented. |
