PURPOSE:To prevent mottling on the solid parts in gravure printing by forming the cylindrical gravure printing plate having cells made continuous, cell depth made constant, walls made discontinuous, the contact length between a doctor and the plate surface made almost constant throughout all the plate. CONSTITUTION:The walls A and the cells B are formed on the cylindrical plate for the gravure printing, and the cells B are made continuous and constant in its depth, and the wall A is made discontinuous. The sections of X-X' and Y-Y' on the plate are shown in figures (a) and (b), and the total length of the cell B parts at the section of X-X' (2nX4+p) and the total length of the cell parts at the section Y-Y' (nX8+q) are made almost constant. When an ink is fluid, the ink flows in each cell on the plate apart from one another or together with one another, and the inks across each wall never become insufficient or overflow, and the ink at each cell flows smoothly, thus permitting mottling phenomena to be provided during printing by adoption of such cells, and even a special pigment large in particle diameter to be easily printed. |
