PURPOSE:To obtain a large cooling effect and to obtain a thin metallic strip having a good characteristic and shape even if the thickness is large in the stage of ejecting and cooling quickly a molten metal onto the surface of a cooling base plate under movement and producing continuously the thin metallic strip by exerting pressing force to the unsolidified thin strip on the cooling base plate. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal flow is ejected onto a cooling base plate 6 under movement such as a cooling roll under rotation or the like from an aperture 1 to form a paddle 3 on the plate 6 when, for example, the nozzle aperture 1 for ejecting the molten metal is one. A thin strip 5 is drawn out of the paddle 3 and is solidified by quick cooling. A gas for pressing is blown to the unsolidified part 4 of the drawn out strip 5 from a nozzle aperture 2 for ejecting the gas for pressing. As a result, the strip 5 is pressed to the plate 5 and the contact force with the plate 6 is increased, by which the cooling effect is remarkably improved and the purpose is achieved. |
