An exposure control system for a single-lens reflex camera. The system incorporates a shutter having a normally open status for camera viewing and focusing. An exposure cycle is commenced upon energization of a solenoid which drives a shutter to a closed position. This solenoid is deenergized to commence an exposure interval and reenergized to terminate the interval of exposure. During the latter energization, the camera is converted from an exposure operational mode to a viewing and focusing mode.
