Novel condensed 7-membered ring compounds represented by formula (I), (wherein R<1> and R<2> each represents hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy or, when taken together, they represent tri- or tetramethylene, R<3> and R<5> each represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or arakyl, R<4> represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, R<6> represents a condensed or non-condensed hetero-alicyclic group containing at least one N, O or S as a ring atom, A represents an alkylene chain, and n represents 1 or 2) and salts thereof. These compounds and their salts are effective in inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme, and are useful for diagnosis, prophylaxis, and treatment of circulatory system diseases, e.g., hypertension, heart disease or apoplexy. |
