PURPOSE:To enable to reduce noise, by providing a switch for disconnecting a stepping motor from a driving circuit therefor, in a printer wherein line feeding is conducted by rotating a platen by a stepping motor. CONSTITUTION:When setting a paper, the stepping motor 10 is disconnected by the switch 12 from an exciting circuit 9 connected to a distributing circuit 8, resulting in that no electric current is passed to the motor 10. Therefore, even when a knob 11 is manually rotated with the result of rotation of the motor 10 through gears 14, 13, only a slight torque is generated by a permanent magnet. Accordingly, no sharp force acts in a direction perpendicular to the center axis of the platen, and generation of noise is suppressed. By fitting the switch 12 to the knob 11, it is possible to prevent the operator from failing to turn OFF the switch 12, and operability can be enhanced. |
