PURPOSE:To secure the high using efficiency of a magnetic tape to perform the signal recording with high quality by arraying in time series the sound signals of plural channels after the time axis compression and then recording these sound signals in different areas on the tape. CONSTITUTION:Sound signals 1A-1N of plural channels are converted 2A-2N into digital signals and coded by coding circuits 3A-3N. The coded signals delivered from circuits 3A-3N are written to a RAM4 according to a writing clock of a low speed. Then these signals are read successively and in time series out of the RAM4 according to a reading clock of a high speed after the time axis compression and then recorded successively in different areas on a magnetic tape 8. For signal reproduction, each compressed and coded signal is read out of the tape 8 and then written successively to an RAM11 according to a writing clock of a high speed. These written signals are read out of the RAM11 according to a reading clock of a low speed after the time axis expansion and then restored 12A-12N and 13A-13N to sound signals 14A-14N. |
