PURPOSE:To obtain efficiently a thick waterproof sheet without shrinkage in a thick raw fabric sheet, by using an apparatus having two titled press driving rolls in an asphalt melting tank and squeeze rolls placed between two wire nets between the above-mentioned rolls. CONSTITUTION:Two pairs of the upper and lower press driving rolls 2 and 2' aae provided in an asphalt melting tank 8 filled with asphalt (A) at a switable interval, and the front rolls 2 in the forward direction of a synthetic fiber nonwon raw fabric sheet 1 are positioned above the surface of the asphalt (A). The rear rolls 2' are embedded in the asphalt (A), and both rolls are titled. Wire nets 3 are wound around the above-mentioned rolls 2 and 2', and two wire nets are nipped between the above-mentioned rolls to provide a pair of squeeze rolls 4. The thick raw fabric sheet 1 is dipped in the asphalt (A) and moved while hold and nipped between the wire nets 3, and impregneated efficiently and economically with the asphalt (A) thoroughly. In the process, the unevenness of the mesh formed in the wire nets 3 presses the raw fabric sheet 1, and prevents the shrinkage in the width direction of the raw fabric sheet 1 by heat.
